New Holland Machine Company was found in 1895 by a young man named Abram Zimmerman when he purchased a horse barn in New Holland, Pennsylvania. He has been called a mechanical genius because he developed lighter, freeze-proof engines for use in various farm machinery.
The company continued to expand and to offer other farm equipment in the early 1900s. The original company sold in 1947, changing hands many times, to finally become part of a Dutch company, CNH Global. New Holland farm equipment is now sold around the world. Especially popular are the New Holland tractors, combine harvesters, loaders, and New Holland quad baler.
New Holland construction equipment can be seen in the James Bond film, Casino Royale, when Bond drives a New Holland W190 wheel loader into a construction area at the beginning of the film. Then, too, the distinctive blue and white logo is on the jerseys of Italian football team, Juventus, members.
